Claire Guidinger, PhD, Graduate

Claire is a recent graduate (September 2023) of the CPSY Program. She completed her predoctoral clinical psychology internship at the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System in Minneapolis, MN. While on internship, Claire completed clinical rotations in Primary Care-Mental Health Integration (PCMHI), Neuropsychology, Psychiatry and Mood Disorders, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Couple’s Counseling. She also completed a research project examining the roles of cognitive restraint, behavioral restriction, and fasting with loss of control eating using Ecological Momentary Assessment. She is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship in PCMHI at the Minneapolis VA with an emphasis on behavioral interventions for acute and chronic medical conditions (e.g., insomnia, tinnitus, chronic pain, sleep apnea, CPAP adherence, smoking cessation, and behavioral weight management) and cognitive screenings for memory concerns and ADHD. During her postdoctoral fellowship, Claire will also be completing a research project examining predictors of treatment adherence, dropout, and symptom change for Veterans engaged with PCMHI services. Claire also recently accepted a staff position in PCMHI at the Minneapolis VA, which she will begin after completing her postdoctoral residency in August 2024. Claire’s goals for her long-term career as a staff PCMHI psychologist are to increase mental health care accessibility for veterans; maintain an active program of research; and engage in outreach, administration, and supervisee training within the practicum, internship, and postdoctoral residency programs at the Minneapolis VA.
